BERKSHIRE BRANCH SUMMER EXHIBITION 2002 | |
| BACK to Events mainpage | |
The Berkshire Branch held their first Summer exhibition at the Henley Exhibition Hall in Oxfordshire during the first week of July. It was a very good end to our first year as a branch of the Guild The exhibition drew a lot of interest from local people despite the fact that the Regatta was held over the same period.
Dawn, Gabby and Sally welcome visitors to the exhibition There was a good turnover of items with everyone involved selling some of their work. The hall was very well equipped with everything we needed. It was well lit and hooks for hanging and tables to display items were provided. Our opening day was a great success and we had lots of visitors and got some very positive feedback. We had a good deal of interest from members of the Guild and a number of them submitted work for inclusion in the exhibition. It was nice to meet members from other branches and to share ideas. The hall has been booked again for nextSummer and we hope to make the Summer Exhibition a regular event for the Berks Branch. After the show we all met up for a celebration dinner at a local hostelry and plans have been made to continue with our meetings in the Autumn.
Linda with some of her work We intend to arrange a series of workshops and demonstrations and to continue to experiment with interesting techniques. We have also been invited to take part in the Wokingham Arts Festival in October when we will put on a demonstration of silk painting and invite members of the public to have a go. We thought this would be a good way to introduce people to the joys of silk painting. Linda Graves
