My exciting journey into art
My first love for art
My first experience of art was when I was about nine at middle school and experiencing taking part in cross-stitch cards for the first time and I found it exhilarating. The cards would be drawn out in pictures of ships, boats and houses and by using a large needle and various exciting colours of thread we learnt the basic skills of applying colour, texture and pattern together.
What I found so fun about this exciting sewing skill was the use of applying various threads together and achieving such a personal piece of artwork. It was from here that I realised I had an extraordinary patience, and this patience in the time involved in all of my artwork pieces still lies with me today.
Throughout school I loved anything to do with presentation, and the way in which I used fonts, drawing skills and colour to make my projects unique.
My home surroundings
I was born on the 27th August 1981 and I live in Hazlemere, High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire in the UK.
I belong to The Visual Images Art Group (exhibiting my oil paintings), The Silk Painters Guild and also waiting to join the South Bucks Embroiderers Guild.
Secondary School
Sir William Ramsay School 1993-1999
My years at Sir William Ramsay School were some of the best of my life and I learnt so much in art and design. I was a very talented, motivated and hard working student at school and always wanting to do well. I found art in years 8 and 9 very challenging and I remember my projects with great enthusiasm. I remember having to create an Easter bonnet and lots of exciting pieces.
My GCSE work in years 10 and 11 was great, being introduced to lots of drawing studies of flowers and the study of buttons. I did exceptionally well and achieved a Grade A in GCSE Art in 1997. This love for design was also shown in all of my other subjects too, producing excellent presentation pieces.
I then went on to study for my "A Level" Art and throughout my two years of study I learnt so much.
During my studies we also did a project on flowers and I absolutely loved creating a huge 3D flower out of wire and then using tissue paper to add colour and a great surface finish to the piece.
I also featured in the Sir William Ramsay School Calendar with my work. Hunderwasser, Klimt and Seurat influenced my style at the time. I absolutely loved colour, pattern and style and from here I was taught the love of creating silk paintings.

My work - My Silk Paintings
I absolutely love designing and completing my silk paintings, and my themes mostly include the delicacy involved in natural objects and forms such as fruit, leaves and vegetables. I also enjoy silk painting focusing on local scenery and the area of Bucks has lots of great scenes to focus on. I would say my influences include Georgia O'Keefe's work and I absolutely love the work of Monet, Seurat and Hunderwasser because of their use of colour.
I am a Textile Artist and my greatest influences come from my study at "A Level" and also my Textiles 2 Course I completed last year which I enjoyed with a passion.
July 2003 - My Emperors Costume
This photograph is my final project on my "Open College of The Arts" - Textiles 2 Course.
It is an Emperors Costume for a stage play focusing on the Earth's surface.
