We are an international, non-profit-making organisation, based in Great Britain, aiming to promote and inspire the fabulous art of silk painting.
The Guild wants to provide you, amongst other benefits, a network of fellow painters of all levels, abilities and locations to share and exchange ideas and information through the Journal and the website.
Silk has been around for a long time. Remains of silk weaving have been found in tombs in Central China of around 5,000 years ago.
As the production of silk travelled across the world, various countries have developed many techniques that can be used in silk painting.
We are trying, through the Guild, to keep these tecniques alive by continuing to pass them on in workshops and courses, in the hope of encouraging more people to enjoy the craft of silk painting.
Membership of the Guild will provide you, amongst other benefits, with a network of fellow painters of all levels, abilities and locations to share and exchange ideas
and information through the Journal, on our Facebook page and this website.
Artists often work alone and miss the stimulation that can be gained from creative interchange. The Guild would like to encourage you, through your local branch, to meet regularly with other painters for demonstrations, workshops and lectures.
